PS5 and Xbox gifts

A console is the gift people ask for by name, which makes it the easiest big present to get right and the easiest to get wrong: the wrong model, or a second one of what is already under the TV.

Below are the current PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles and their controllers, priced from the official PlayStation and Microsoft stores. Some sell out between restocks — they stay on this page anyway, because the right move then is to put it on a wishlist and buy the moment it is back.

If they already own the console, a second controller is the gift that gets used the same evening.
